With two weeks of this adventure out of the way, I am so far pretty pleased with both the process and the content created by it. Now it’s time to move on to this week’s featured artist. This week, coming in at number thirty-eight, is Pinback.
I will be listening to all of their albums, including This is a Pinback CD (1999), Blue Screen Life (2001), Summer in Abaddon (2004), Nautical Antiques (2006), Autumn of the Seraphs (2007) and Information Received (2012). I’ll also be listening to the extended play albums Some Voices (2002), Arrive Having Eaten (2003), Offcell (2003) and Too Many Shadows (2004).
There are multiple side projects from both members of the ban that, from what I’ve heard and what I’ve listened to, are quite good. But I’m not as familiar with them as I am with Pinback itself. So I’m going to leave all of that out this week. No offense to it, I just don’t yet have a connection to it.
This is going to be a much more laid back week than last week. There’s not a bunch of party tunes in the Pinback catalogue. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, and to be honest I think it’ll be a nice change. Let’s give it a spin and see where it takes us.
