There is a possibility that I started a little too ambitiously. There is also a possibility that I don’t have as much to say as I thought I did. What is more likely is that I really did pick the correct bands for “honorable mention week.” Also likely is that daily posts are not the way to go. Thankfully, starting Sunday, I’m devoting an entire week to a single artist instead of trying to tackle an artist every single day.
The long and short of it is this. When I was supposed to be listening to Electric Six on Thursday, I wasn’t. I was playing games or watching Netflix (The West Wing for I think the ninth or tenth time straight through). By the time I was going to do my post on Thursday night, I was tired and didn’t have the energy to talk about music. I postponed it until Friday, similar to what I did earlier in the week with Blackalicious. But then Friday happened, and I received a phone call absolutely knocking me off of my game. I wasn’t in a place mentally to discuss why I thought anything was awesome, because I really didn’t think anything was awesome. And I was not in a mood to listen to the Offspring either.
So, because of my own mental baggage, Friday came and went without the two posts it should have had, and without any time devoted to Friday’s band of choice. But it’s Saturday now, and a trip to the record store has revitalized me. You can expect two pretty much back to back posts after this one, since I listened to the Offspring on my errands this morning and am listening to Electric Six as I write this. I’m in a place to put my paltry opinions out to the world again. I’m also optimistic about getting some time to listen to Soundgarden today and writing about them later on tonight.
So, technical difficulties may not be accurate, but personal difficulties sounds a little too whiny. In any case, sorry to the four or five people who are actually reading these. And sorry for the incoming flurry of posts. This will be better next week, when the countdown starts in earnest.
